RAVEN, waiting for a home

Raven is a sweet little papillon mix. He is four years old. Mostly all he wants to do is cuddle.
He is not the type to go on hikes. He would be perfect for an older person because he loves
to sit on the couch. He gets along well with other dogs and all kinds of people. He is
quiet, friendly, and cuddly.
Please email Sue at Baxterandfriends@yahoo.com if you would like to meet Raven.

SYDNEY- STILL LOOKING FOR A HOME

Sydney is weird-looking, but some people really like that in a dog!
Of course he is unusual, but then, that might be a good thing.
At any rate, we are still hoping for someone to come along who
might want him as their permanent adoption. Sydney is two years
old and we think he is a Yorkie-terrier mix.

MUNCHIE found a HAPPY HOME!

Munchie (formerly Sparky) has found a
wonderful home! We are so happy for him.
He has two little girlfriends who are little
Papillons like him. When we took him to the
home for his "meet and greet" he just laid
down on the cool floor as if to say, "I'm home
now. Don't try to take me away from this place"
Munchie's new owner is a writer and Munchie
nestles at her feet when she writes.

ADOPTED!! Pinkerton is happy in his new home

Pinkerton and Buddy got a wonderful home together with a family who loves them both and takes
them on long walks. They are so happy~!

Penelope's new "mommy"

Penelope found a home with a family.
Eva is a years old girl and she just loves
Penelope. Eva's Mom overheard Eva
whispering in Penelope's ear, "I'M your
Mommy now!"

Furr-ever homes found for these cute dogs!

Denver found a lovely home with Judy in Napa.
He is quite happy there and he plays in a vineyard
when he is not napping on the couch with the cat!

Furr-ever homes found for these cute dogs! Adoptions

Bubu found a home with Arvin and Ray.
They also adopted a second dog from the
same foster home, named Ben. Bubu and
Ben are crazy about each other and also
crazy about Arvin and Ray

Success Story- PUDGY

Pudgy is a little five year old black pug. His owner passed away
suddenly and the family came to us to find a home for him.
Luckily we were able to find a home with two very loving
parents and a little lonely Puggle named Pugsly. When
Pudgie and Pugsly met it was love at first sight.
The family of Pudgie said he had not smiled in a long
time, and now he wrestles with Pugsly and smiles
all the time!

Millie Jo happy in her Wisconsin home

Millie Jo found a home in Wisconsin with Jill and Marty! They love her so much, and everyone thinks
Millie is the perfect dog. Millie is the perfect family dog, and everyone loves to pass her around and
she sleeps on their laps. Millie's two best friends are cats, and they actually all play together. She
is getting used to the snow, though, and has a warm jacket and little boots!
Millie Jo is a little ten month old Petite Brussels Griffon.
She was rescued from a Shelter and was classified as unadoptable
because she had an umbilical hernia.
We had it repaired when we had her spayed and she
is running around and playing right now. Millie Jo is
teeny but a force of nature!
She is currently in a foster home (and they might adopt her)
but please email us at Baxterandfriends@yahoo.com if
you are interested!

Cocker Reunion PARTY

In May we had a Reunion of the "Royal Seven", and four Cocker and their owners attended.
They were part of a group of seven Cocker Spaniels that were found together in an Industrial
area of Commerce, California. We had a great time and all the dogs and owners were happy
to meet each other and the dogs were happy to be reunited!

Here is how it happened. In August of 2008, I decided to quit rescuing. As you know, rescue is
a difficult endeavor. It is expensive, exhausting, and almost impossible at times. So I decided
that I was quitting rescue for good. But wouldn't you know it, the next day I got a call from
someone who had found a family of SEVEN adult Cocker Spaniels running around. They
asked if I could help. I knew right then that unless I said yes, the Cockers would all go
to the Shelter, so I said yes. I named them all after the Royal Family. Queen Elizabeth,
Princess Anne, Princess Diana, Prince Harry, Prince Charlie, Prince William and King George.

The attendees in the photo, from left to right, are; Suzanne and Prince William, Marta and
Ava (Princess Diana), Olivia and Esther (Queen Elizabeth) and Chuck and Ruthie (Princess Anne)

Everyone had a great time and next fall I hope to get the whole gang together!

Priscilla found a wonderful home!(ADOPTED)

Meet Priscilla, a one year old Malti-poo. Priscilla is spayed
and up to date on her shots. Sadly, she was turned in to the
Shelter by an owner who did not want to comply with the
new Spay/neuter laws. The owner preferred to give Priscilla
to the Shelter rather than spay her.

We are sorry that this picture was taken when her hair was
matted, but we can't groom her until her spay stitches
have healed. Then we will publish updated "after" photos
when she gas a new haircut.

Priscilla is very very gentle and friendly. All she wants
to do is to give kisses. Priscilla will follow you everywhere.
She is a tiny little dog, and weighs about 8 pounds. She
would be a perfect little lap dog, and you can carry her
around with you.

Priscilla likes other dogs and gets along with everyone.
She would do best in a home with other small dogs and older
kids. Because of her small size and delicacy, we would prefer
that she is with older children who are gentle with little
dogs.

She is exceptionally sweet. If you are interrested in Priscilla,
please email Sue at BaxterandFriends@yahoo.com, and we will
email you and application for her.

ADOPTED- Meet Tallulah!

Tallulah! What a cute little doggie! She has a face only a mother could love!
She has an adorable underbite and a pug nose! She is a force of nature!
Tallulah is a mix of some different dogs- She has a pug face, but we also
think she is crossed with a Min Pin because of her unusual coloring. She is black
and she also has some tan on her legs.

Tallulah loves EVERYONE! She is a great dog for children. She is super-friendly,
and affectionate. She is very beta, so sometimes other dogs push her around.
She is just the friendliest and sweetest thing. She would make a perfect family
dog.

Tallulah is 3 years old and weighs about 12 pounds. She was rescued from
a Shelter. She is cuddly and is always trying to jump up in order to be hugged.
Tallulah would be a great family dog.

If you are interested in Tallulah please email Sue at Baxterandfriends@yahoo.com.

Danny needs a home (ADOPTED)

What a little honey-bear Danny is. He is just quiet and shy, and very
clingy. It is as if he does not want anyone to let him go.
Danny is a one year old neutered male terrier mix. He is very very
small, about 6 pounds.
He was recently rescued from a shelter and we think the whole
shelter experience was very scary for him. It is scary for all dogs,
of course, but since Danny is so tiny, we think it was pretty
overwhelming.

Danny has not started to play yet, but we are sure he will once
he realizes that he is safe.

Danny gets along with other dogs, but we think a big family might
be too much for him. We would like to place him with a couple
or single person with older children who might be able to
create a quiet environment for him. Danny is available
for adoption and is currently in a foster home.
If you are interested in
Danny please email SUE at Baxterandfriends@Yahoo.com.

Laugh of the Day

Jonathan- every little runaway deserves a second chance!

Jonathan was a scruffy, dirty little runaway from Fontana, California.
He has been adopted and turned into a little gentleman by Terry-Lee
and Billy. Jonathan could be called the center of their life. At first,
he was so ill-mannered that they were not sure they could keep him.
He ran around, jumped on the furniture, PEED on the furniture,
chased the cat, and was an all-around hoodlum. They re-named him
Southside Jonny Fontana. After months of training and walks and
TLC and love, Jonathan is self-contained, sweet, quiet, well-mannered
and loveable. He has his own couch, and never bothers the cats!

LADY NOW- LADY BEFORE(in the shelter)

Lady's photos are two of our most dramatic "before and after" photos.
Anyone looking at these photos would swear it was a different dog.
Lady was rescued from the Carson Shelter in Los Angeles. An email
went around titled, "Sad Dog in Carson Shelter". The photo was
very gripping. Who could resist this pathetic Cocker, miserable,
cold and lonely? A group of people united through an email network
to help her. We named her Lady, and somebody pulled her and brought
her to a foster home. My role was to get her to a vet and to another foster.
A wonderful Foundation, Shamrock Foundation, paid for two surgeries
for her for massive mammary tumors on both mammary chains.
After her surgery had healed, she was adopted by a wonderful Angel
named Gay who decided that Lady was the dog for her. Lady and Gay
are doing wonderfully today, two years later! Lady was so pretty that
a photographer at a Veterinary Hospital decided to take her picture
and put it in the Hospital Calendar.
